Michelle M Mangano is the Executive Director of the California College of Physical Arts, Inc dba CalCopa Massage School, where she ensures the curriculum provides students with the most up-to-date information for their future careers. With a strong background in training and development, Michelle’s expertise lies in various massage modalities, anatomy, physiology, pathology, kinesiology, business, and self-care – all geared towards equipping students for success in the massage therapy profession.
Drawing from 24 years of experience as a professional massage therapist and instructor, with over 1,500 hours of education, Michelle brings a wealth of knowledge to her role. Prior to her tenure at CalCopa Massage School, she spent 18 years in the corporate world, serving as Sr. Training Manager for Marriott International, where she honed her skills in training and development.
Michelle’s journey at CalCopa Massage School has been a testament to her dedication and growth. Starting as a student, she was quickly recognized for her potential and asked to join as an instructor before even completing her program. She steadily progressed, taking on roles as a Part-time Instructor, Full-time Instructor, Lead Instructor, and Dean of Teachers, ultimately purchasing the school in 2008.
With a Bachelor’s degree in Communication (Broadcast Journalism) and English from the University of Nebraska – Lincoln, Michelle’s educational background complements her extensive practical experience. Her accolades include being named “Associate of the Month” multiple times during her early career at Marriott and “Manager of the Quarter” twice for Worldwide Reservations.
Beyond her professional pursuits, Michelle actively engages in various hobbies and interests, including being a member of U.S. Masters Swimming and the Long Beach Grunions Swim Team since 2007, serving as a Karaoke Jockey (KJ) for her self-owned business “Your Key Karaoke,” and participating in tap dance classes and performances since 2010.
Michelle’s success is driven by the success of her alumni, and she remains dedicated to ensuring that CalCopa Massage School continues to produce highly skilled and knowledgeable massage therapists.
